PB 790/795 RAM Upgrade Information

Caution Only authorized service personnel should upgrade the system. Anyone who wants to upgrade the system herself/himself should know about the dangers of ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) and the necessary precautions. Unknowingly zapping the components of the computer will void the warranty.

Maximum on Motherboard: 256MB
Uses 8/16/32/64/128 MB DIMMs, 60ns or faster EDO or Fast Paged DRAM DIMMs
Supports only non-parity DIMM modules.

Note

  1. The 168-pin DIMM sockets will accept 3.5V 1MBx64 (8MB), 2MBx64 (16MB), 4MBx64 (32MB), and 8MBx64 (64MB) and 16MBx64 (128MB) DIMMs.
  2. Bank 0 will be populated as the default from the factory.
  3. No configuration jumpers: BIOS detects memory size, and memory type (EDO or Fast Page Mode).
  4. This motherboard will not accept 36-bit DIMM modules (parity).

Installing DIMMs (J5F2, J5G1)

The following is the procedure for installing DIMM modules into a DIMM socket.

Figure 1.

  1. Line up the DIMM module as illustrated in Figure 1, pin 1 is indicated by a small triangle on the motherboard. Insert the module straight into the socket. The DIMM module is keyed and can only be inserted one way.
  2. Insure that the DIMM module is secure in the socket and snap the locking tabs located on both ends of the socket firmly into place as illustrated in Figure 1.
