PB 790/795 Battery Removal and Replacement

Warning Only authorized service personnel should upgrade the system. Anyone who wants to upgrade the system herself/himself should know about the dangers of ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) and the necessary precautions. Unknowingly zapping the components of the computer will void the warranty.

The RTC battery is upgraded by removing and replacing it with a Lithium 3v CR2032 or its equivalent battery in socket BT8J1.

The following steps should be used when upgrading the battery:

Removal:

  1. Locate BT8J1 battery socket on the motherboard.
  2. Use an index finger and thumb from one hand, grip the battery at opposite points.
  3. Lift the battery out of the socket.

Installation:

  1. Take the upgrade battery, insure that the flat surface is facing up.
  2. Snap it into the battery socket.
