Sound4: Canadian Systems Using NEC Connections Lockup When Dialing

Symptom
Canadian systems running NEC Connections with a Sound 4, will lockup on the first ring of an inbound telephone call

Resolution
Download NEC Connections version 1.7.63 (filename CC63.exe) to the desktop from
ftp://supportftp.neccsd.com/pub/ready/software/cc63.exe.

1. Uninstall NEC Connections by clicking on 'Start' then 'run' and in the dialog box type
C:\windows\ccunins1.exe /A C:\ccentral\ccentral.ins and clicking on 'OK'
2. Click on 'Start', 'Settings', 'Control Panel'
3. Double-Click the 'Add/Remove Programs' Icon
4. Click the 'Windows Setup' tab.
5. Remove the check in the box labeled Windows Messaging or Microsoft Exchange. This will display a prompt
for the removal of MS Network and MS FAX. Click 'yes'.
6. Click 'OK'. Windows will uninstall MS-Fax and Windows Messaging/Exchange.
7. When prompted to reboot, click yes.
8. Redirect Sound4 WinModem to IRQ4 instead of 10 by:
a. Right-click ‘My Computer ‘ and click ‘Properties’
b. Click the ‘Device Manager’ tab
c. Click the + button to the left of ‘Modems’
d. Highlight ‘Sound 4 Winmodem’ and click the Properties button.
e. Click the ‘Resources’ tab
f. Remove the check mark from ‘Use Automatic settings’
g. Highlight ‘Interrupt Request’ click ‘change setting’
h. Choose Interrupt 4 and click ‘OK’ twice.
i. Click on 'Yes' when prompted about continuing after manually changing settings
j. Click on 'Close', then click 'Start', 'shutdown' ,'Restart'.
9. Double-click the downloaded cc63.exe file and follow the installation instructions.
