Sound 16 SRS 3D Setup

The sound card may be installed using the Add New Hardware Wizard, or by using the installation program on the Sound 16 SRS 3D Drivers disks.

The second method will install the Voyetra Utilities.

Setup using the "Add New Hardware Wizard"
Before installing the Sound 16 SRS 3D, the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro has to be removed from the Device Manager using the following procedure:

  1. Right-click the "My Computer" icon.
  2. Click "Properties".
  3. Click the "Device Manager" tab.
  4. Double-click "Sound, Video and game controllers".
  5. Highlight "Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro".
  6. Select the "Remove" button.
  7. Click OK to close the Device Manager
  8. In the Control Panel, double click "Add New Hardware".
  9. Click Next.
  10. Answer "No" in order to install the card manually.
  11. From the "Hardware type" list, choose "Sound, video and game controllers" and click "Next".
  12. Click on the "Have Disk" button.
  13. Insert disk 1 of "Sound 16 SRS 3D Drivers".
  14. Type in the "Copy manufacturer's files from" text box: A:\WIN95
  15. Click "OK" and the "Select Device" dialog will appear.
  16. From the "Manufacturers" list, select "Packard Bell".
  17. From the "Models" list, select "Packard Bell Sound 16 SRS 3-D System".
  18. Click "OK".
  19. Click "Next" to continue.
  20. Click "Finish."
  21. Click Yes to restart the computer.
  22. Once back in Windows, right-click "My Computer" icon.
  23. Select "Properties" command.
  24. Click the "Device Manager" tab.
  25. Double-click "Sound, Video and game controllers".
  26. Double-click "Packard Bell Sound 16 SRS 3-D System."
  27. In the "Current Usage" group, the "Original Configuration" check box will be cleared.
  28. Check the "Original Configuration" check box to activate the sound card in Windows 95.
  29. Click the "Resources" tab.
  30. Click the "Set Configuration Manually" button.
  31. Clear the "Use automatic setting" check box.
  32. Set the "Setting based on" list box to "Basic Configuration 1"
  33. Click" OK". The "Creating a forced Configuration" dialog will appear.
  34. Click "Yes" to continue.
  35. Shut down and restart the computer

Setup With The Voyetra Sound Utilities
To install the sound card software, make sure the "Sound 16 SRS 3D Drivers" disks are available.

  1. Right-click the "My Computer" icon.
  2. Click "Properties".
  3. Click the "Device Manager" tab.
  4. Double-click "Sound, Video and game controllers".
  5. Highlight "Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro".
  6. Select the "Remove" button.
  7. Click OK to close the Device Manager
  8. Insert disk 1 of "Sound 16 SRS 3D Drivers".
  9. Click "Start" button and select "Run".
  10. At the "Open" text box type: "A:\SETUP <Enter> The Sound Card Software Setup dialog will appear
  11. Click "Continue".
  12. Select "Full Install" at the Mode of Installation dialog and click "Continue".
  13. Voyetra will be installed in folder C:\Voyetra. Click Continue to accept the folder.
  14. When the Setup asks for disk #2 and the disk #3, insert the disk in the drive A.
  15. When the installation is finished, click "Restart Windows"

Note
The configuration parameters are held in the ROM on the card. The Sound 16B SRS is Plug and Play, Windows 95 will allocate system resources for this and other PnP hardware in the system. Windows 95 can also re-allocate resources to accommodate a new device. The I/O address, IRQ, and DMA channel can be viewed in the Windows 95 Control Panel.
